The Schengen of the Sands: The Kingdom Opens Multiple-Entry GCC Tourist eVisas For Residents

Some trips begin long before you board a plane. They start with an idea to see more, do more, and make the most of your time in a new part of the world. If the Gulf has been on your list, there’s good news: travel across the region is about to get easier.

The GCC tourist visa, known officially as the GCC Grand Tours Visa, is almost here. It’s been approved by the Gulf Cooperation Council and is now in its final stages of implementation. Once launched, this new travel permit will let you visit all six GCC countries with one visa. That means no more juggling separate applications, entry stamps, or surprise paperwork for each country. Just one visa, one trip, six destinations.

What Is the GCC Tourist Visa?

The GCC tourist visa is a unified system that will cover the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait. The goal is simple: to make travel within the Gulf as easy and smooth as possible. Similar to the Schengen visa in Europe, this visa gives tourists the freedom to explore the region without border stress.

Saudi Arabia has significantly streamlined the process, making it easier for residents across the UAE and all GCC countries to visit the Kingdom. The Ministry of Tourism is now offering a 1-year multiple-entry eVisa, available for online application via the official platform, ksavisa.sa

The new electronic visa is ideal for multiple purposes, including tourism, essential business trips, visiting family, or performing Umrah (outside the designated Hajj season).

What Would the GCC Tourist Visa Change

For travelers, this visa removes many of the common hassles. You won’t need to apply for a visa every time you cross into a new country. Planning a trip that includes Dubai, Riyadh, and Muscat? You can now do that under one permit. It makes the journey easier and lighter on the wallet.

The Gulf is rich with variety. You could walk through the old souqs of Kuwait, sip qahwa in a palm-shaded courtyard in Bahrain, see futuristic museums in Doha, or hike the mountains of Oman—all on the same trip. The GCC travel visa brings that kind of trip within reach.

Tourism leaders also expect this visa to boost the regional economy. Hotels, airlines, tour companies, and small businesses across the Gulf stand to benefit. It encourages longer stays and deeper exploration, which means more travelers going beyond a single city or airport layover.

What We Know So Far

The GCC visa is still being finalized, but some key features are already confirmed:

  • It will allow entry into all six GCC countries with one application.
  • The visa will likely offer both single- and multiple-entry options.
  • It will be valid for tourism and family visits.
  • The application will be online.
  • Validity is expected to range from 30 to 90 days.
  • No visa-on-arrival is expected at launch. Travelers will need to apply in advance.

You can select between one-country or full-region access, depending on your plans. This flexibility will help travelers create custom itineraries without overpaying or overcommitting.

Who Can Apply for a GCC Tourist Visa

Tourists from most countries will be eligible for the GCC tourist visa or the GCC unified visa. The final list of eligible nationalities hasn’t been published yet, but officials have said it will include a wide range of countries. GCC nationals will continue to travel freely using national IDs, as they do now.

The new visa is available for all GCC residents (from the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, and Kuwait). You have options:

  • Multiple-Entry: 1-year validity
  • Single-Entry: 90-day validity
  • Stay Duration: Up to 90 days per visit

To be eligible, your passport must be valid for at least 6 months, and your GCC residence visa must be valid for at least 3 months. Applicants travelling alone must be 18 or older. If you are planning to apply, you will likely need the following:

  • A passport valid for at least six months
  • A passport photo
  • Confirmed flight and accommodation details
  • Travel insurance
  • Proof of funds

The GCC Grand Tours visa application process will be online. Once approved, the e-visa will be sent via email.

How to Apply for GCC Tourist Visa?

Getting your visa is a straightforward digital journey. First, make sure you have your documents ready:

  • A passport copy
  • A copy of your GCC residence visa page
  • A passport photo with a white background

Once you have those, just follow these steps:

  1. Visit ksavisa.sa
  2. Choose the path: “Visit → Tourism → GCC Residents”
  3. Fill in your travel and personal info
  4. Upload your documents and photo
  5. Add your passport and GCC visa details
  6. Choose your preferred medical insurance provider
  7. Pay online and submit!

The best part? Processing can be incredibly fast. Some GCC residents may get their visas instantly, while standard processing takes up to 3 working days. Your new eVisa will be delivered straight to your email. Keep a digital copy on your phone or print it out in case you need it at the airport.

How Much Will It Cost?

The application is designed to be clear and transparent regarding all fees. The total cost structure includes a visa fee of $81 (or AED 297 / SAR 304), supplemented by a small application fee of $10.50 (AED 38 / SAR 39).

Additionally, applicants must account for mandatory medical insurance, the cost of which varies widely, ranging from $7.50 up to $252 (AED 27–AED 926). This affordability, combined with the ease of online access, underscores Saudi Arabia’s commitment to welcoming its GCC neighbors.

Special Cases

If you’re traveling with family, you can likely include children and dependents in the application. If you’re visiting for medical reasons or business meetings, you may still need to apply under a separate visa category until the unified system expands its scope.

Remote workers, retirees, and digital nomads might benefit in the future, too, especially as countries like the UAE continue to grow their flexible visa programs.

The Bigger Picture

Gulf countries welcomed over 68 million visitors in 2023. That number is growing. Tourism leaders want to see the region become one of the top global destinations—not just for luxury, but for culture, nature, food, and festivals.

The GCC single visa for UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and the rest of the region is part of that vision. It helps connect cities, stories, and people. It creates a path for travelers to move through the Gulf in a way that feels natural and exciting.

For now, travelers must still apply for separate visas for each country. But soon, one visa will be enough.

Stay updated by checking official government and tourism portals, like Visit Saudi for Saudi Arabia, as the rollout date nears. When the system goes live, it could change the way you explore this part of the world.
