Misk Art Institute Launches the Second Solo Series at Prince Faisal bin Fahd Arts Hall

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, 14 April, 2025

Misk Art Institute, a subsidiary of the Mohammed bin Salman Foundation “Misk,” is set to launch the second edition of the Solo Series at Prince Faisal bin Fahd Arts Hall from April 23 to September 25, 2025. The two exhibitions feature pioneering Saudi artists who have played an instrumental role in defining and shaping the Kingdom’s art scene. The 2025 Solo Series platform works by Dr. Mohammed Alresayes and Khaleel Hassan Khaleel, respectively. The artists are renowned for their significant contributions to the evolution of visual arts in Saudi Arabia and the 58 artworks on display depict the country’s cultural and visual identity, offering visitors a unique opportunity to engage with the artists’ creative work.

Between Forms

The first exhibition, Between Forms, celebrates the milestones in the artistic journey of Dr. Mohammed Alresayes (b.1951, Saudi Arabia). Graduating from the Institute of Art Education, Riyadh in 1969, Alresayes started merging abstract art with impressionism, crafting distinctive representations of architecture and the Najdi landscape. His academic contributions have proven to be valuable and essential resources, enriching the Arab art scene. Between Forms is co-curated by Misk Art Institute’s team, Aram Alajaji and Nada Alaradi.

The Whisper of Dreams

The second exhibition, The Whisper of Dreams, features the works of Khaleel Hassan Khaleel. Born in Jizan (b. 1958, Saudi Arabia), Khaleel began his artistic journey at the Institute of Art Education in Riyadh, where he developed a unique style that eventually evolved into an artistic philosophy he calls “Dreamism.” His works center around realistic scenes that meld into ethereal images, creating distinctive compositions rich in symbolism. The exhibition presents a unique combination of studies and paintings, offering insights into the artist’s methods of exploring various human and experimental themes. The Whisper of Dreams is co-curated by Misk Art Institute’s team, Shadin Albulaihed and Cecilia Ruggeri.

Basma Alshathry, Director of the Curatorial Department and Chief Curator at Misk Art Institute, said: “Solo Series 2025 highlights Misk Art Institute’s commitment to championing Saudi art and celebrating the notable works of local artists. Through this edition, we share another chapter of our artistic history, showcasing the distinctive voices of Saudi artists. Ultimately, this initiative reflects our dedication to supporting artists, connecting them with wider audiences, and preserving our artistic legacy for future generations.”

This exhibition creates a dynamic space for cultural exchange and features specialized workshops and engaging panel discussions with the artists. Through the Solo Series, Misk Art Institute reaffirms its dedication to nurturing a thriving art sector, enhancing Saudi Arabia’s cultural influence and promoting artistic dialogue. The Solo Series offers an exclusive lens into the journeys of influential Saudi artists, delving into the depth of their creative practice. The inaugural edition showcased Saudi art icons, Taha Alsabban and Yousef Jaha, highlighting their impact on the Saudi art ecosystem.
